Liberal her first country as the new UN Women

Liberal feminism, a type of feminism, is the belief that men and women should have the same rights and opportunities in aspects, such as, politics, social, education, and economy. Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is a British model, actress, activist, and liberal feminist. Watson has made several feminist moves for both men and women’s equal rights. In July 2014, she was chosen as the ‘UN Women Goodwill ambassador’. ‘UN Women Goodwill’ is volunteer support services by well known people from the art, music, sport, film, and literature worlds. They bring up issues and work together to find solutions. In this position, she started her feminist moves towards gender equality.Watson also visited Uruguay in September, her first country as the new UN Women Goodwill Ambassador. Her speech was about women’s political participation. Later that year, in December, Watson was named the Feminist Celebrity of 2014 by ‘Ms. Foundation for Women’, a non-profit organization for women in the United States. That same year, she launched a UN Women campaign called ‘HeForShe’, at UN Headquarters in New York City, where she purposely presented for men to support gender equality. This campaign works for achieving gender equality for both men and women. In her speech, she stated; “I am reaching out to you because I need your help. We want to end gender inequality—and to do that we need everyone to be involved”. She exposed herself as a feminist because, like the definition of a feminist, she believes that men and women should have the same rights and opportunities. Additionally, in January 2015, she gave a speech about gender equality at the ‘World Economic Forum’s’ annual winter meeting. Through her career, she has been able to promote education for girls in Bangladesh and Zambia. Today, she still works for equality between the sexes. In a recent speech at the end of 2017, she continues to talk about that women should be paid as much as men, make decisions about their own bodies, afforded the same respect as men, and be involved in political decision making. Her hard work towards equality has begun to make progress.
