HISTORY OF MODELLING
In the olden days Modelling and Simulation was not too
common. Through the years it developed rapidly till to date where it is the
order of the day. It is now widely used, in Industries, in computations, and
many more. All this thanks to the engineers and software geeks or
mathematicians who made it a point to develop and grow the modelling and
simulation through all this years.
Modelling and Simulation start up and realisation can be
dated back to the times of World War II. At those years, there emerged two
great mathematicians- JV Neumann & S Ulam.
They had the task of solving the behavioural patterns of Neutrons. They
used trial and error which further proved to be costly and complicated for
analysis. This led to the suggestion of the use of Roulette wheel method. The

programming. Conferences were held to raise awareness to people to join in
simulation. Through years like in 1980 computerized systems did increase.
In 1984 the first simulation language particularly intended

important aspect as it helps in the industries. Mostly machines and controls in
manufacturing industries need to be modelled and simulated to better maximize
and reduce costs.
Modelling and Simulation is widely used and implemented in
Supply Chain processes. It helps quicken the processes, it’s cheap too.
In Medicine too, modelling and simulation is talked highly
of. It is also most common here. In bio-catalytic procedures simulation plays
an important role.
From way back simulation has been used to model and develop
new ammunition. Through the years in militaries, Modelling and Simulation has
been widely used to develop the weapons of mass destruction, big machines (guns),
bombs were structured by use of simulation as it’s easy to execute without use
of much costs.
In industries like Mining, the machines used there are built
in Simulation and modelled to detect minerals, cleaning of even diamonds goes
through simulation processes too. In fact most Mining industries are boosted by
use of modelling and simulation.
Other application is that modelling and simulation is also
used in Ports.
Last but not least of the Simulation application include the
Lean Six Sigma.
