Its retractable cat like claws catch the lucky prey of its favorite food, lumer. They stand tall being the largest mammal carnivore on the island. WIth its closest ancestor being the mongoose. Its stretching at an astonishing 6ft long, head to tail. Now, we will talk about the fossa and how it manages to survive deep behind the trees, and how it kills and lives, in madagascar. Animals builds are important, its whats makes the animal survive under the harsh conditions of the habitat, but the fossas body features is needed to live in Madagascar. Hunting is key to survival, so the fossa has sharp teeth that connects to what looks like the muzzle of a dog so the fossa can easily kill its prey in a bite. Not to mention, they can’t live without the claws, their retractable cat like claws not only help the fossa hunt in safely and efficiently it will provide support when needing to climb trees. Furthermore, the flexible ankles builds on its pads, that replicate a bear souls, to gain traction. In addition, the fossas reddish brown coat compliments its slunder muscular body that connects to its long tail that’s used for fast movement and climbing in the trees to run after prey. Coupled with the weight, which is 15.5 to 26.5 pounds.Equally important, is its food source, which for, everyone is needed. This carnivorous animal feeds on mostly anything, but one of its favorite, lumer. Not only to mention the wild pigs it’ll find, will join the menu most of the time. Additionally, birds, mice, and fish is a part of the  major food source. Fossa hunts its prey then devours it, and it usually doesn’t but when in packs they share the food amamges them. You’ve learned about the Fossa’s body and diet, but what about the topography about its home? Of course I can tell you, picture this. A island, in the southern tip of Africa, surrounded by the Indian ocean, tall trees cover the land and animals roam about. That is where this creature lives, the fossa lives in the trees and the ground. WIth that, this is a solitary animal so i’ll mark its territory on rocks, and trees. Less than 10% of the forests on the island are intact today, which I can infer links with the population decreasing. Overall, I think we can conclude this is an assassin like creature thats has a body structure to fit its home. And the land is falling apart tree by tree. Also, the fossa will eat almost anything to survive. This amazing creature, from the killer teeth to the food choices, the Fossas an animal you’ll never forget.Bibliography Stories of Animals, Nature, and Culture National Geographic Creature Feature
