There are many examples of change; common examples of personal, social and global change can also be considered growth in many instances.”In The Gift Of Magi” by O. Henry, the change they experience was a personal change. The wife cut her prized hair and her husband sold his heirloom watch. In those moments they realized that their love was not based on what they had, but on how they felt. They decided not to let those change affect their love. Personal change can be bad, good or indifferent it all depends on the person’s outlook. In this story love has cost more than money could provide. The physical change this loving couple has endured shows that sacrifice is an ultimate expression of change. As well as teaching us, that all change is life altering but it doesn’t have to change the way you look at life. One of the morals of this story is that any change does not have to shift the way people perceive you and your view others. “Della, said he, let’s put our Christmas gifts away and keep them a while. They’re too nice to use now. I think we should have our dinner.” Jim did not care that Della changes her appearance and loved her anyway.”The Metamorphosis” by Franz Kafka is about a working man that provides for his parents and sister, he turned into a big ugly bug. Before, his metamorphosis he felt alone and alienated. Having to pay his parents debt he never got the chance to live life the way he wanted to. The physical change was life-altering. The way he and his family acknowledged his change was only encouraging his bad outlook on life. A change Gregor went through was physical. His response to was so bad that for rest of his life he had a negative view of the world and was disowned by his parents. To his disappointment, he was unable to recover from his change. This story is a prime example of how change can be perceived as bad and negatively affect your life.In relation to change I have been through several and would like to speak on one. The change that I went through was social. I move from Maryland to Michigan when I was 12 old. At first, I hated the change because I was leaving all my family and friends behind.”Things change. I learned that the hard way because after the move I had to go on with my life and continue to get an education and make new friends.
