‘Art, freedom and creativity will change society faster than politics’ – Victor Pinchuk
I feel that this quotation is extremely inspirational and would really benefit me for the success in this creative industry. I come from the land of Bollywood. Film and television have been hugely influential in every part of my life. Growing up, my knowledge of woman empowerment and courage was shaped by some of the woman centered Bollywood films like Neerja, dangal, Queen and Highway. Film is the universal form of communication, it provokes one’s emotion, fear and thoughts. I firmly believe that a film is the platform that has the prospective to address social issues.
My ideas are nothing without film and I have always been fascinated by every aspect of film. I have always been a creative and imaginative individual who has enjoyed taking part in all of forms of art. My choice of a degree in Film and television is to enhance my technological skills, to exercise my creativity and to learn at the highest level.
In my spare time, I like to film and edit short videos and I would enjoy learning more about media production, as I find media language very interesting.
I grew up in a very competitive environment right through my childhood. My schooling was in one of the most prestigious academic institutions of Delhi – D.P.S. R.K. Puram.since I was in 8th grade my interest in art started building up, it was the medium through which I could express my feelings even though on a mere piece of paper. My passion for art led me to become a member of the art club. I was also awarded a red tie from my school for my achievement in extra co-curricular activities and was also awarded a blue coat for 3 consecutive years for excellence in academics. I hold a junior diploma in kathak, after learning kathak I soon started practising shooting and managed to reach the under 16 junior shooting championship even though I couldn’t win the competition but I positively learnt from my mistakes. While in my high school, I was also selected in girls cricket team which was the first girls cricket team of our school D.P.S R.K. Puram.
I am very passionate about working in the media industry. I have also volunteered for photography clubs in my school. This year, after boards I am planning to go to Mumbai which the also known as the ‘city of dreams’ to do an internship under The Wedding filmer.
Filmmaking is something I would enjoy doing immensely and I am keen to turn this passion. I desire to learn from the best and I feel that your university will provide me with proficient education, help me gain qualitative knowledge as well as experiences and will help me to grow as a better individual. I would love the opportunity to study film at university as the next step towards my career.
I would like to end this by using this inspirational quotation by one of my beloved director of the Bollywood industry.
‘I think the endeavour is to just make your film and then hope it travels as much as it can’- Karan Johar
