A Small Community Within a Large City
One of the draws of Highland Park is its sense of community.
Though it is located within the more great Land of Texas and provides easy
access to its many business and resources, Highland Park offers its own unique
culture and amenities. This sense of neighbourhood connection is probably best
demonstrated is through its annual neighbourhood events, which include the 4th
of July Parade and the annual lighting of The Big Pecan Tree, among others.
A Wealth of Amenities
Featuring eight tennis courts, a swimming pool, several
parks and open green spaces, and even a library offering books, movies, music,
and job-help resources, Highland Park has a lot to offer. Additionally, the
neighbourhood has resident services, such as house checks, neighbourhood news and
information, and online resources, that add to the convenience of life in
Highland Park. And all the amenities, attractions, events, and major employers
of Dallas are just a short drive down the road!
Highland Park is owned by the nationally-ranked Highland
Park Independent School District. The U.S. News & World Report awarded
these schools the 14th-place ranking in the state of Texas, and Highland Park
High School ranked 98th in their National Ranking.
Shop in Style in Highland
Highland Park Village was one of the first shopping malls in
Texas! Opened in 1931, the shopping centre features Spanish architectural
styling and a “town square”. On February 16, 2000, the shopping
centre was recognised as a National Historic Landmark. It boasts a plethora of
luxury retailers such as Christian Dior, Chanel, and Jimmy Choo.
J.R.?” – An Interesting Tidbit
Interestingly, in the 1980’s Highland Park became somewhat
famous because images of the neighbourhood were portrayed in the hit television
series Dallas. Additionally, in 2012 another series, GCB, took place in a
fictitious “HillSide Park”, which residents declare is a stand-in for

Highland Park Texas
Despite its location in the heart of Texas, Highland Park is
a surprisingly remote-feeling nature retreat into lush forests filled with
wildlife and beautiful picnicking lawns all on the edge of a massive blue lake.
Hiking, biking, paddling sailing, fishing, and even events and festivities are
all common pastimes.
Endless beautiful blooms, exotic plants, towering trees,
lush greenery everywhere you turn… the breathtaking nature of the Highland Park
surrounds everywhere you turn. But it’s not just about the plants; there are
also art shows, concerts, festivals, and so much more.
